Can I get waxed while pregnant?
Absolutely! I have upskilled my knowledge by taking specific pregnancy waxing courses. I have a separate option to book while pregnant that is the same price but just gives some extra time as we may need to change position more frequently to keep you comfortable and also stop and stretch every now again.
Can I get waxed on my period?
Yes! Just pop in a fresh tampon or cup. I do also offer a period policy which can be found on my "Policies" page which gives you full flexibility to re-arrange intimate wax appointments if the unexpected happens and you would rather wait until after. Please see this page for more information.
How long should I leave between waxes?
When you first start your waxing journey it is ideally 4 weeks. Once you are fully on your way with waxing every 5-6 weeks may be more beneficial.
Before your appointment:
- Stop all retinoid use (including in skincare products) 5 days prior. This is very important for facial waxing as grazing can happen if this is not followed. If unsure if your products contain any retinoids please message me before hand I will happily check.
- Ensure you have 3-4 weeks worth of growth or length of a grain of rice.
- Avoid creams and lotions the day of your appointment.
- Be hydrated.
- Exfoliate the area 3 times a week with the last exfoliation the day before your appointment for best results.
- Moisturise the area daily for best results.
- Ensure you have anti-histamines available in the event of a histamine reaction (this is not a sign of allergy or anything to be concerned about).
- Shower or wash the area prior to your appointment where possible (I know this isn’t always possible when coming from work etc so don’t worry in these cases - there is an en-suite you are welcome to freshen up in if you would like).
- Avoid sun exposure / sun beds for 72 hours prior.
- Avoid caffeine for 4 hours prior to your appointment.
After your wax:
- No hot baths or showers for 48 hours. Warm / tepid water is fine.
- No saunas or swimming pools for 48 hours.
- No make up for 24 hours on the area.
- Exfoliate after 24 hours, 3 times a week. I have a range of suitable daily exfoliants that can be purchased for £12 if required.
- Moisturise the area daily.
- Wear loose clothing (and underwear if applicable).
- No intense exercise for 48 hours (nothing creating a sweat).
- No friction (no sex or activities for 24-48 hours).
- Avoid touching the area for 24 hours as much as possible.
- No sunbeds or sun exposure to the area for 48 hours.
- No deodorants for 24 hours following an underarm waxing treatment.
What to expect from an intimate wax…
For those on a first visit or considering a first visit it might help to give an expected run down of what to expect:
- You will make your way to my waiting room. This is for my clients only so will only ever be you waiting in there if I am finishing up with a previous client. There is no reception and so no need to tell anyone who you are here to see - you will just make your way to my room using the directions on your confirmation. No-one else ever has any of your information.
- I will welcome you from the waiting room into the treatment room. This room is then locked for your reassurance.
- You will remove all clothes from your bottom half (you’re fine to keep your socks on!) and put them in a clean and sanitized basket which is provided which will then be moved out the way. I don't use disposable pants or towels as I am going to see everything anyway and they just get in the way and hinder the light quality.
- We will adjust the bed to your comfort and pop a small bit of wax on your wrist so you can feel the temperature.
- You will lie on your back in a butterfly position (think smear test position so feet together and knees apart). Here we will cover all of the front - labia, pubic mound and bikini line.
- After this we move onto the back and the position we use here will depend on your hair growth - normally it will either be laying on one side (Depending on your hair growth we may do step 4 and 5 the other way around).
- After a good check over and making sure you’re also happy, we will apply some post wax treatment oil to soothe and hydrate the area.
- Congratulations - you are done! You can pop your clothes on while I tidy away and then we’ll have a chat about the aftercare.
New to waxing?
Hair is a strange and wonderful thing that has its own growth cycles.
Without going into the details, what’s important I know is if converting from another hair removal method, it may take up to three waxing treatments to achieve that really smooth and long lasting skin. This is because that hair grows in stages and all of your hair is never at the same stage - by sticking with waxing only we can get it all to the same stage. But don't worry, you will still be leaving with a great result after appointment one - you just won't see the full and incredible results until appointment three.
It is very important to avoid shaving and other hair removal techniques between waxing appointments, as this will interrupt the process.
